Trivia in the lede
[edit]@Frank Anchor: please explain why the particular piece of trivia you insist on adding
- "... first NBA Finals since 1998 to not feature a team from California, Texas, or Florida." (why these arbitrary states? No one knows.)
is relevant, or rather more relevant than, say
- "... first NBA Finals with Bahamian player (Ayton, Suns) since 2002 (Rick Fox, Lakers)." (why Bahamas? Go figure.)
- "... first NBA Finals with a head coach named Mike (Budenholzer) since 2007 (Mike Brown)." (why Mike? Because reasons.)
- "... first NBA Finals with a team sporting green and white jerseys (Bucks) since 2010 (Celtics)." (why green? Does it matter?)
Should we clutter the lede with pointless trivia like this? --bender235 (talk) 03:22, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
As for Crossover1370's addition, see overwhelming exception. --bender235 (talk) 03:28, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- I copied the statement from National Basketball Association controversies#Big-market team bias/Lack of parity. Crossover1370 (talk | contribs) 03:32, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- First, I will make it very clear that I have not insisted that this piece of information be included, nor have I ever added that information to this page. Though I may personally have a wider view on what content is acceptable compared to your viewpoint, I can agree that cherrypicking states can be arbitrary. The info that I added on a couple occasions and was editeded and/or removed involves the list of five players (James, Curry, Bryant, O'Neal, and Duncan), who are all significant contributors to multiple championship teams and, with the exception of Curry, multi-time Finals MVPs, and that this is the first Fimals since 1998 to not include at least one of them. This content was taken directly from the 2021 Playoffs article. The recent addition by User:Crossover1370 expands upon this content that I added in and User:Bender235 removed. Edit Phoenix Suns roster
[edit]This is minor, but Dario Saric tore his ACL and is now injured (will miss the rest of the playoffs). Please update when possible. Thanks in advance.Losipov (talk) 23:00, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
